big fork cabin install

June was packed with thrills for us — between staging installs, interior design project kick offs, our first visit to High Point Market in North Carolina, and 2 major interior design installs — we had our hands full! We wanted to take a second to highlight the Big Fork Cabin install. This was our second time working on an Airbnb property for this client + we had so much fun. This space was designed to allow guests to get away from it all + yet feel like you're at home.

Our goal was to update this traditional cabin with a bright, modern, neutral palette featuring warm, natural textiles to enhance the charm of this cabin retreat. Bedding, rugs, lighting, art, and a few furniture updates brought that vision to life.

Our main design challenge:

This cabin is packed with character — hickory wood, pine wood, and plenty of unique angles which make any modern layout a unique challenge! We knew it had the potential to tell a beautiful story, but before we got in the space it was overcrowded with busy decor and heavy furnishings. Our clients knew this location was amazing and in very smart and savvy fashion, they saw the potential past the pieces in the home.

We wanted to make sure our selections allowed the cabin to shine through, which often meant toning things down. Instead of making bold design choices that show character and thought, we made careful design choices that allowed the existing character of the cabin to stand out.

Our design takeaways:

Less is more. An updated, neutral palette was all this cabin needed to fit our client’s needs. Our top priorities were to update textiles, art, and rugs — and looking back, that’s exactly what made the biggest difference.
