A Space for Choices

To me, one of the most important things I’ve learned in design is to always think through the goal of the space and the people who will be impacted by it.

As we were contacted by the folks at the Choices Chattanooga early in 2019, we kept thinking as a team “ How does this space affect all of the variety of clients that walk through these doors?”, “How can we make everyone feel at ease, but still aware this space can assist with a variety of medical concerns?”, “How can we create an enjoyable work environment for the staff- giving them their own space to work that still supports their personal style but also acknowledges a sense of oneness throughout?”...

Lots of questions, lots of thoughts and thus, the new space for Choices was born. If you don’t know a lot about Choices and their mission, please take a moment and check out how they have helped members of our community in Chattanooga. One of the things we did from the start was spend one on one time with the staff members to get a clear overview of their individual roles at the organization, how each of their roles worked together, how they like to work, what their needs were and what their client’s needs were. This gave us a huge window into how to really understand all the aesthetics we needed to consider. Our starting point of course, was to also consider existing materials at their current location and find ways to capitalize on this and maximize the budget.

We are delighted to finally show you guys some of where things started, where the design concepts evolved and ultimately, the beautiful spaces you can see today.

We love how the space turned out. If you’re looking for ways to give back to our community, this organization is a great one to look into.
